The University of Ghana has a guest house to accommodate participants: the Yiri Lodge. It is also very close to large private hotels. Although there are a few expensive hotels in Accra, the nightly accommodation cost ranges from USD$80 to $130. Most of the hotels provide transportation services, including airport transfers, transportation for conferences, and transportation to tourist sites. Most of the hotels serve both continental and local food and some have gyms and other related facilities.
For IASFM18, the University of Ghana will be partnering with three local hotels - the Erata Hotel, Mensvik Grand Hotel and the African Regent. We have negotiated discounted rates, details of which can be found at this link: http://iasfm.org/iasfm18/hotel-information/. You will need to make your own booking. Transport will be provided between the Erata and Mensvik Grand and the conference venue on a daily basis (07.45am departure, 19.00 and 20.00 return)
There is a wide range of other accommodation options in Accra including AirBnb. Conference participants are welcome to make their own arrangements to suit their needs and budget but should be aware that the traffic in Accra is very bad, especially in the morning and early evening. If you choose to stay in central Accra away from the University campus in East Legon you can expect to spend significant sitting time in traffic. Journey times of 1-2 hours for a 5km trip are not uncommon.
